'Claret'

2007

Steltzner Vineyards

The Steltzner family offers something rare in today's mega wine production world.  They produce and bottle their own wines in the very precious Stag's Leap District of the Napa Valley.  This red wine hybrid called "Claret" is a blend of 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 12% Cabernet Franc.  The 16 months of oak aging make this Meritage very drinkable now but also worthy of years of cellaring.  This is premium Napa drinking at a bargain price.

Barbera D'Alba

2007

Batasiolo

We found the perfect rustic Italian red to help polish off this winter season.  The Piedmont region of Northwest Italy is home to this grape variety, and the Alba region is on of the top two viticultural sites in this DOCG.  The wine has vibrant ruby color, cedar and vanilla in the nose, and a dry light tannin flavor profile.  Perfect for Pasta. Salute!

Zinfandel 'Old Vine'

 2004

Steep Ridge

Steep Ridge is a "label" created by the Terlato Wines portfolio.  This practice is common in today's wine world.  What's uncommon about this wine is its age (2004) which allowed this wine to age and smooth out.  What also makes this wine a bargain is its appellation of Dry Creek Valley which is preferred dirt for producing high quality Zinfandel. The result is a red subtle in structure, plenty of spice, black pepper, and big brambly juicy fruit.  This varietal is a true American original!
