Château Reysson Haut-Médoc (2016)

Lovely deep garnet in colour. Highly expressive on the bouquet, offering appealing, complex aromas in a fusion of black cherries, blackberries and strawberries, together with a hint of spice. Full-bodied on the palate, and very generous, structured with well-coated tannins. The intense flavours are joined by lovely, well-integrated oak. The freshness present right through to the final note perfectly encapsulates the typical character of Merlot cultivated on Reysson’s clay-limestone soils. Blend: 87% Merlot, 10% Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot

From one of the estates owned by Bordeaux negociant Dourthe, this wine is well structured with elegant tannins that are complemented by the black fruits and rich acidity. It is a balanced, ripe wine that will develop well. Drink from 2022.

A beautiful sense of orange blossom and currants on the nose. Medium-bodied, tight and linear with a solid middle palate and a fresh finish. A little old fashioned, but shows typicity. A blend of 87 per cent merlot, ten per cent cabernet franc and three per cent petit verdot. Try after 2021.
