Primus Carmenère (2019)

Aromas of red fruits, cedar and boldo herbs - Boldo is an evergreen, bitter and aromatic herb which is found in Chile, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru and Bolivia. Fresh and fruity in mouth with cherry flavors and a touch of pepper and rosemary. Silky with velvety tannins and good volume. Pair with beef empanadas and curried lamb stews.

Blackberry, blueberry, plum and sage on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with plush tannins. Creamy and round on the palate with plenty of fruit and crisp acidity. Flavorful finish. Slightly chewy at the end.

Primus 2019 Carmenère is a full-bodied Chilean Carmenère fragrant with earthy florals, ripe red berry fruit, plum and herbal aromas. The wine is dry, medium-plus-bodied, fresh and smooth on the palate with red berry, cherry, savoury herbs and a kiss of pepper spice. Tannins are fine and velvety. Grapes were sourced from younger vines from south-facing vineyards along the Tinguiririca River in the Apalta region of Colchagua. The wine was aged in French oak barrels for 12 months.

Ripe plum and blackberry aromas come with ample oaky wood grain scents as well as hints of Band-Aid and latex. A flush palate is what Apalta is known for, while this warm-year Carmenère offers baked black fruit flavors touched up by chocolaty oak. A slightly sticky and grabby finish confirms the wine's heft.
