With its rich core of blueberries, blackberry, lavender and pepper spice, the Napa Valley Petite Sirah displays the plush elegance and finesse for which our Petite Sirahs are known. The generous blackberry and black raspberry flavors remain powerful, yet are supported by lovely cinnamon, clove and cedar baking spice notes from the oak aging. There is beautiful freshness and mouthwatering acidity which runs throughout the wine, making it unbelievably soft with restrained tannins and a generous lengthy finish. This is an inviting wine that encourages you to enjoy it now but has the complexity to age for many years to come.
92 points, Jeb Dunnuck (Jan 2019) Even better, the 2016 Petite Sirah sports a glass-staining color as well as a huge nose of blueberries, crushed violets, and mint. With fruit galore, full-bodied richness, good purity, and an undeniably sumptuous style, it’s going to be hard to beat as a steakhouse red.
90 points, Lisa Perrotti-Brown, Wine Advocate The 2016 Petite Sirah is made up of 79% Petite Sirah, 8% mixed Rhône varieties, 7% Grenache and 6% Syrah, aged for 12 months in 25% new American oak. Very deep purple-black in color, it opens with notes of freshly crushed black cherries and black berries with touches of plum preserves, baking spices and tar. The palate is medium to full-bodied, very firm and grainy with a lively line to lift the peppery black fruit to a long finish. 31,143 cases produced.
