Intense and attractive purple color. Ripe fruit aroma, with toasted and smoked hints. Sweet tannin finish. Wine with character.
One of Dave's finds, Dehesa El Carrascal is a family property that started in 1962. The vineyards are located southeast of Spain at 1000 meters of altitude, under the Denominación de Origen “Almansa”.
From Vino de la tierra de Castilla, this wine is 100% Estate Grown Monastrell (also known as Mouvedre). This region, located about 40 miles south of Madrid is more known for its native grapes and regional clones, but recently new vineyards are being planted with better known international varieties. El Carrascal is one of these trend setters and they are making very tasty wines with modest prices.
