The 2012 Santa Barbara County Syrah combines fruit from five of the Syrah vineyards we work with. After blending trials, Petite Sirah, Mourvedre, Grenache and a small amount of Viognier were added for structure, aromatics and complexity. More than a sum of its parts, it is dark and rich. Exhibiting cherry, wild berry and violet aromatics, this wine is full and fruitful in the mouth, with underlying espresso and pepper flavors. Sharing the same farming and winemaking techniques as their vineyard designated wines, this Syrah can be enjoyed upon release or cellared for several years.

This single-vineyard bottling by the downtown Santa Barbara-based winery boasts a beautifully dark nose of black cherries, white pepper and elegant brown to black spices. Flavors are dominated by blackberries that rise to a grippy, mouthwatering finish. The tannins are still strong, so expect this to last for years. Drink 2017–2024.
90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted from bottle, the 2012 Syrah Santa Barbara County is a year-in and year-out outstanding wine, as well as a smoking value. Loaded with notions of plum, blackberry, licorice, violets, and hints of olive, this medium to full-bodied, delicious, forward Syrah will drink nicely for 3-4 years.
