The nose is very expressive, with notes of blackcurrants, blackberries, cinnamon, cardamom seeds, tobacco, cedarwood and juniper. The palate is fruit-driven, with hints of liquorice, vanilla, blackcurrants and sweet spices. A blend of 75% Tempranillo and 25% Merlot, La Casona matured for 14 months in French oak barrels before bottling.
91 James Suckling A big red that's beginning to mature nicely, but still has a lot of tannic power. Dry, slightly grainy finish, but no astringency. Drink now.
91 Decanter From one of the coolest areas in Navarra, Tempranillo pairing well with Merlot for a round, supple, stylish wine. Ripe blackberry fruit nicely enhanced by oak ageing. Austere on the finish, quite appealing. Drinking Window: 2019 - 2025
