Benanti is a historic Sicilian winery rooted on the slopes of Mount Etna, renowned for crafting wines that embody the volcano’s unique terroir. Founded by Giuseppe Benanti in 1988, though with family winemaking traditions dating back to the late 1800s, the estate focuses on native grapes such as Nerello Mascalese, Nerello Cappuccio, and Carricante. With vineyards spread across Etna’s diverse slopes, Benanti produces elegant, terroir-driven wines that have become benchmarks of Etna viticulture, while continuing to honor centuries-old traditions and the family’s legacy.
The 2023 Etna Bianco has a pale yellow color, with bright greenish tints. The nose is intense and delicate with hints of apple. The palate is dry and mineral with pleasant acidity and salinity, persistent and harmonious. This wine pairs well with fish and seafood. Very suitable for by-the-glass consumption.
90 Wine Spectator This sleek, minerally white is well-cut and refreshing, with flavors of plump white cherry, lemon oil, spun honey and chamomile that expand on the palate, underscored by lingering notes of minerally smoke and salt on the spiced finish.
