This update to the Billecart Salmon Rose, with a subtle name change from Billecart Salmon ‘Brut Rose’ to ‘Le Rose’ was chosen to demarcate a change in ageing time and dosage. This now sees 36 months on its lees for complexity and the dosage here has dropped into Extra Brut range, just below 5 grams per liter.
A radiant colour with a sparkling intensity, entwined with a beautiful pale pink hue. An elegant visual ensemble bestowed with a graceful effervescence. Subtle and fine aromas, leading to a gourmand seduction of red berry flavours and citrus zest with an aromatic burst of great finesse which is both floral and refreshing. An outstanding tactile sensation with a creamy smoothness, which evolves into a very noble notion with a character of wild strawberries and a slightly raspberry finish. A harmonious and delicious equilibrium with a remarkable precision. It is the best accompaniment to any happy occasion, but also with a fillet of wild salmon or a carpaccio of langoustines. In terms of desserts, it will enhance the flavours of red fruits with an acidic crunch and only lightly sweetened.
The grape variety % is based on the 2020 vintage – 45% Chardonnay sourced from the best Crus in the Champagne region; 35% Pinot Noir from the Montagne de Reims and the Grande Vallée de la Marne; and, 20% Meunier from the Vallée de la Marne and the southern slopes of Epernay.

94 Jeb Dunnuck The NV Champagne Brut Rose is an attractive pale salmon hue, with a fresh perfume of wild strawberry, ripe peach, white and red flowers, a hint of tropical fruit, and grapefruit. The palate is rounded, with fruit up front and through the mid-palate, and it has a silky and fresh lift. There is a wonderful ease and drinkability to this wine, which delivers balance and finesse.
93 James Suckling This is a clean and precise rosé Champagne with aromas of bread dough, grapefruit and sliced apples. Dry, pure and elegant, with tight bubbles and a bright finish. 45% chardonnay, 31% meunier and 24% pinot noir, including pinot noir red wine from Mareuil.

92 Decanter Based on the 2020 vintage, Billecart-Salmon's signature rosé appears to be on its finest form of recent years under cellar master Florent Nys, full of fragrant, crunchy redcurrant, red cherry and orange fruit with an alluring hibiscus-like floral lift and subtle green peppercorn spicing. The Meunier wraps the intensity of the vintage base in a little softness that keeps the focus on effortless ease (helped by the selection of delicate Chardonnays and young, fresh reserve wines), all adding up to a rosé of immediacy and charm, sweet-natured without sweetness and fragrant without overt fruitiness.
92 Vinous The NV Rosé, base 2019, is bright, lifted and refreshing. Crushed red berry fruit, mint, white pepper and chalk are very nicely delineated. There's terrific depth and texture to fill out the soft, curvy contours. The 2019 base Rosé is fabulous. In fact, it is one of the best recent releases I can remember tasting. Dosage is 5.1 grams per liter. Disgorged: 3rd quarter 2022.
