The Gabbiano brand was recently relaunched by its new owner, Treasury Wine Estates, an international wine company that intends to produce the very best traditional Italian wine styles. The grapes for this wine were harvested from selected vineyards in the Veneto region in northeastern Italy, where the cool climate allows perfect ripening conditions. In the winery, the fruit was gently pressed and then fermented with selected yeasts at a controlled temperature in stainless steel tanks. A small amount of Chardonnay was added to give extra depth. The wine was then allowed to marry, again at a controlled temperature in stainless steel, before bottling.
Gabbiano Pinot Grigio has a sunny straw-yellow color. Floral notes caress the nose, with nuances of pear and honeydew melon. Citrus aromas are clearly noticeable on the palate, providing complex flavors of green apple, orange, and subtle lemon. The mouthfeel is lively and full of structure, created by the excellent harmony of fruit and acidity. The wine is light in flavor, with a long finish that reveals hints of citrus and almonds. Pairs wonderfully with all light meals, salads, and white meat, and especially with spaghetti Genovese. Or enjoy as an aperitif.
