Château de Ricaud, located near Cadillac in Bordeaux, has a rich history dating back to the 15th century when Gaston de Foix elevated the estate's status. The original château was destroyed in 1650 during the Fronde but was rebuilt in 1674. In 1865, it was redesigned in a neo-Gothic style inspired by architect Viollet-le-Duc. The estate became renowned for its wines in the late 19th century, earning numerous accolades. In 1980, Alain Thiénot acquired the property, later partnering with Dourthe in 2007 to enhance its winemaking reputation. Today, Château de Ricaud is recognized for its high-quality wines and commitment to sustainable viticulture.
The bouquet presents a precise harmony of cherries, figs, plums, blueberries, anise, and rosemary, complemented by earthy aromas that transition into abundant fruit and conclude with a smoky touch, all executed with delicacy, cleanliness, and precision. On the palate, it is immediate, round, warm, and well-structured, supported by a solid tannic frame that remains gentle rather than dominant; instead of being dense, austere, or deep, it is agile, balanced, and effortlessly enjoyable, finishing with a floral elegance and minty echoes.
Blend: Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, and Cabernet Franc
