Château Haut-Lagrange is a modern Bordeaux success story—a late-20th-century creation that has carved out a respected place in Pessac-Léognan through family dedication, innovation, and sustainable practices. A rising voice in Pessac-Léognan, Haut-Lagrange speaks with clarity and freshness. Its reds balance supple fruit and fine gravel-born structure, while its whites shimmer with citrus and mineral lift. A modern estate with a timeless terroir.
Deep, dark ruby with purple highlights. On the nose, ripe black fruits—blackcurrant, blackberry, and a touch of cassis—layered with subtle tobacco, cocoa, and a hint of earthiness. A medium-bodied wine with fine, velvety tannins. The alcohol (13.5%) supports richness without heaviness, keeping the wine fresh and balanced. Notes of crushed berries, espresso, and a mineral edge carry through. Elegant and approachable, with enough structure to age gracefully. Already enjoyable, but best from 2023–2031 for peak harmony.
Blend: Cabernet Sauvignon 47%, Merlot 53%
92 James Suckling Blackberry, flint, wet earth and blackcurrant. Some matchstick, too. It’s medium-to full-bodied with chewy tannins. Polished and energetic. Tobacco at the finish. 53% merlot and 47% cabernet sauvignon. Drink after 2026.
90 Vinous The 2019 Haut-Lagrange is a very pretty red. Crushed rose petal, mint, star anise and berry fruit are all nicely lifted in this attractive Pessac-Léognan. In 2019 Haut-Lagrange is a wine of understatement and class. All the elements come together so nicely. Fine tannins and bright floral notes round out the finish.
