Fattoria La Rivolta is a family‑run estate in Campania’s Benevento province, rooted in the rich winemaking traditions of the Taburno area and led today by the Cotroneo family, who transformed their historic farm into an organic-certified winery in the late 1990s. Working exclusively with estate fruit, they champion native varieties like Aglianico, Falanghina, and Coda di Volpe, crafting wines that highlight the limestone soils and high‑altitude vineyards of the Taburno massif. Their approach blends meticulous vineyard care with a light touch in the cellar, resulting in expressive, terroir‑driven wines that balance structure, freshness, and authenticity—an elegant reflection of Campania’s inland hills and the family’s commitment to sustainable, quality‑focused farming.
This wine is a ruby red color. It has fruity notes of cherry, black cherry, and violet. On the palate, there are notes of wild berries and spices. This is a wine of great structure with strong tannins. It pairs well with grilled or grilled red meats, stews, entrecote, and very aged cheeses.
90 James Suckling Solid Taburno, exuding pithy dried cherry, tobacco leaf, liniment and something ferrous. The tannins are a weave of gentle pucker and exactitude. The oak is nicely embedded. Good, easy drinking, if ‘easy’ can be ascribed to aglianico. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.
90 Vinous The 2020 Aglianico del Taburno is darkly floral, with a spicy bouquet that blends blackberries, blood orange and spice. It sweeps across the palate with silky textures, offset by tart wild berry fruits and hints of citrus. This leaves a gentle staining of fine tannins and a pleasantly bitter sensation, finishing with admirable length and youthful poise.
90 Wine Enthusiast The nose features floral, saline aromas of peonies, plum skin, tea leaf and citrus, and on the palate those notes all reappear and receive a lift from an emergent blackberry element to more than hold their own against industrious acid and tannins.
