Ferrari Perlé 2017

Produced since 1971, Perlé 2017 uses some of Ferrari's best estate Chardonnay, matured on the lees for five years (disgorged 2022). There's a slight patisserie aroma, along with some soft stone fruit hints. In the mouth it's intense, rich and sapid, slightly nutty and honeyed with a complexity of flint, citrus peel and lemon juice. Bright and juicy on the finish. Classy stuff! Drink Window: 2023-2027. The 2017 Brut Perlé Trentadoc blends vividly ripe apples and pear with enriching raw almond and white flower notes. It opens with a pretty inner sweetness contrasted by saline minerals that add a pleasant crunch as ripe orchard fruits give way to hints of hazelnut. Despite its size, the 2017 finishes remarkably fresh, ending with candied ginger and a sour tinge of Granny Smith. (Dec 2023)
