Based right in the town of Morey, Frédéric makes the wine for his father at Michel Magnien and runs both a domaine and negotiant, under his own name. A pioneer in organic (and now biodynamic) farming in the region, his wines are always fleshy, fresh, structured and complete.
His Morey-Saint-Denis Blanc comes from some of the top vineyards in the appellation: Mont Luisant, Les Larrets and Les Herbuottes to name three, all household names from lovers of good Morey-Saint-Denis. Magnien ages his white in older oak barrels to round off the edges but it’s still a rich, fleshy, savory white with hints of wintergreen, lemon and orange zest, apricot and Asian pear notes on a medium to full frame that finishes like it was siphoned through stone. Mouthfilling and delicious, go with richer fare here like Coquilles Saint Jacques, cream sauces, whole grilled fish or poultry and the like.
