The perpetual reserve component, with wines dating back to 1999, adds gorgeous complexity and nuance throughout. Dried orchard fruit, hazelnut, chamomile, spice, mint and dried flowers all build with a bit of aeration. This classy, understated Champagne has a lot to offer. Dosage is 4 grams per liter. 91 Jeb Dunnuck The NV Champagne Caracteres Reserve Perpetuelle Extra Brut is from the perpetual reserve started by Fabienne Heucq’s father in 1999 and is vinous with aromas of shitake, sherry-like nuttiness, and saline earth. The palate is similarly vinous and savory and has more depth, with noes of yellow flowers and plum. It feels mature and is ready for drinking now or over the next 15 years.
