Dark red with purple hues. Classic cooler climate aromas of red fruits, pepper and spice. Fresh fruits, fine tannins and soft finish.
91 James Suckling Archetypal, contemporary Barossan shiraz. Mid-weighted of feel, bright, floral and remarkably fresh, clenched by a little reduction into a dangerously drinkable mold. White pepper grind and clove are doused across scents of berry compote. A burr of heat across the finish is mitigated by shapely tannins and a spurt of acidity. This is really fun drinking.
92 Winepilot You’ll fall in love with this beaut little Barossa Shiraz from the first take on the nose. It is a highly scented Shiraz from one of the cooler parts of the Barossa between Eden Valley and the northern end of the Adelaide Hills. It is not a monster but rather full to medium bodied with succulent juicy plummy blackberry fruit that captures its cooler climate origins. There’s a nice, dried herbs and black pepper lift to balance the sweet dark fruit. Fine tannins and neatly infused French oak complete a terrific drink for the next few years.
