Bodegas Rosario Vera is the new winery in La Rioja from the Juan Gil Bodegas Family. With several plots in Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, acquired in 2016, Juan Gil has embarked on a long-planned project here, which came to fruition with the vinification of the first vintage of Bodegas Rosario Vera.
Honoro Vera Tempranillo Rioja is crafted from tempranillo grapes sourced from vineyards aged between 15 and 60 years, located in the municipality of Laguardia, on calcareous soils rich in clay. Once the grapes are harvested, fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks over 15 days, with temperature control (maximum 27°C). Ten percent of the wine undergoes ageing for less than a year in French oak barrels.
Honoro Vera Tempranillo Rioja 2024 presents itself with straightforwardness and honesty from the nose, offering clear aromas of black cherries, roasted plums, and blackberries that invite unpretentious enjoyment. On the palate, it is flavourful and balanced, with a medium body, juicy fruit, a subtle hint of spice, and mature tannins that provide structure without sacrificing freshness. The finish, of good length, leaves a pleasant memory of cocoa and minerality, ideal for accompanying rice dishes, pasta, cured meats, or a casual meal with friends.
