Lievland’s history dates back to 1715, when the original farm was granted to the ex-soldier Jurie Hanekom. Lievland lies on the western slopes of the Simonsberg mountains between Stellenbosch and Paarl, two of the most prominent wine-growing areas in the Cape. The climate, location, and soil on the slopes are conducive to the cultivation of high-quality grapes, and some of the Cape’s best-known wines are made here. Lievland is all about "the here and now", and their wines are made in a generous fruit-forward, well-extracted style.
The Lievland Old Vine Chenin Blanc is made from 2 certified heritage vineyards; planted in 1985 and 1987. This aromatic and intensely fruity wine is a stunning showcase of the versatility of Chenin Blanc. Light straw with a golden hue, it has aromas of white peach, citrus and pineapple. On the palate, peach, citrus, apricot and a compelling minerality. The body is rich, ripe, with balanced acidity.
92 The Tasting Panel From old vine heritage vineyards, this Chenin Blanc is dusted with vanilla and hazelnut. Lifted notes of white tea and lime chiffon offer an austere profile.
