Marchesi di Barolo traces its roots to the early 19th century, when Marchese Carlo Tancredi Falletti and his wife, Marchesa Giulia Colbert, transformed Nebbiolo from a sweet, lightly sparkling wine into the structured, age‑worthy style that became known as Barolo. Their estate in the village of Barolo became the birthplace of the modern wine, and after the couple died without heirs, their holdings passed to the charitable Opera Pia Barolo foundation. In 1929, local winemaker Pietro Abbona purchased the historic cellars and vineyards, establishing the family stewardship that continues today under the Abbona family.
Marchesi di Barolo Barbera d'Alba Ruvei is a vivid ruby with purple nuances. The aroma is fresh, with fruity notes reminiscent of blackberry and red berries jam, and spicy scents of vanilla and roasted hazelnuts. The taste is full and enveloping, with a very slight acid note. The woody notes merge well with the other flavors.
90 James Suckling A ripe wine with aromas of red cherries, fresh plums, leaves and flowers. Light-bodied, it shows crisp yet integrated acidity, a silky texture and a typical finish.
