Pale shiny gold. Very expressive on the nose with fresh, sharp aromas supported by floral notes, a superb but very mellow oak presence and a hint of fresh hazelnuts. The palate has a lovely structure and balance, with fresh floral aromas as well as hints of white peach and minerality. A wine of great precision. The wine was aged on its lees and spent 13 months in oak, of which 20% was new, before bottling.
90 Wilford Wong of Wine.com While I’m more familiar with Mercurey Rouge, the 2023 Philippe le Hardi Blanc stands out for its inviting aromas of garden herbs and peach skin, and its pleasantly unpretentious style—an excellent match for seared scallops with beurre blanc.
