Established in 1958, the winery now has over 50 members with 120 hectares of vineyards cultivated with Nebbiolo. Day after day, generation after generation, over fifty families tend the precious Nebbiolo vineyards to produce the finest grapes. The fruit of their labour is delivered to the Winery they founded in 1958 where, with care and respect, it is transformed into Barbaresco wine.
The color is a ruby red. The nose hints of black cherry, earth and rose. In the mouth is elegant and refined wine with floral and flavours of red fruits and spices and a formidable general equilibrium. Ideal with fresh egg-pasta, risotto, white and red meat.
95 Jeb Dunnuck The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello displays a similar youthful red color but is riper and more seductive in its floral perfume of violets, black raspberries, tea leaf, and sweet herbs. It is broader and rounder on the palate, with ripe tannins, a bit more of an expansive feel, and a touch of warmth on the finish. It’s going to drink well over the next 15-20 years. Drink: 2024-2044.
94 Vinous The 2019 Barbaresco Riserva Ovello is powerful, savory and intensely linear, in classico Ovello style, and yet it appears to have enough fruit behind its imposing tannins to develop well over the coming years. In this tasting, the Ovello feels pretty closed post bottling, but its inherent balance and qualities are there. Clean saline notes extend the finish in promising fashion. Drink: 2026-2041.
93 James Suckling Leafy lightness with a meaty character and earthy cherry and pomegranate notes. Firm tannins and crisp acidity on the classic, extracted palate, with massive structure, a medium body and a juicy finish. Drink or hold.
