Walk-around Tasting
Saturday, March 28
3:00 PM to 5:00 PM
Wines by the Glass/Bottle until close
We'll be honest—we're not exactly glued to the TV for March Madness. But we do love a good excuse for a head-to-head showdown, and this one happens to involve six excellent bottles instead of a basketball. Join us for a casual, fun afternoon tasting built around three side-by-side matchups: same grape, different place, you decide the winner.
No brackets to fill out. No upsets to stress over. Just two glasses in front of you, a friendly debate with whoever's sitting next to you, and the satisfaction of having a very strong opinion about Chardonnay.
The Matchups
Round 1: Cabernet Franc
- Barboursville Vineyards Cabernet Franc Reserve 2022 — Virginia, USA | One of Virginia's most acclaimed producers makes a compelling case that the mid-Atlantic is serious Cab Franc country—structured, aromatic, and distinctly American.
- Château La Case Bellevue Saint-Émilion 2022 — Bordeaux, France | Saint-Émilion is Cabernet Franc's Old World home, where the grape finds elegance, earthiness, and centuries of tradition behind it.
Round 2: Chardonnay
- Kumeu River Estate Chardonnay 2023 — Auckland, New Zealand | A benchmark New Zealand Chardonnay known for its Burgundian restraint, bright acidity, and striking minerality—proof that the Southern Hemisphere can go toe-to-toe with the classics.
- Frank Family Carneros Chardonnay 2023 — Napa Valley, California | Rich, layered, and polished, Frank Family's Carneros bottling brings the full warmth and generosity of California to the glass.
Round 3: Grenache Blend
- Orin Swift Abstract Grenache Blend 2022 — California, USA | Orin Swift's wildly popular Abstract is bold, expressive, and unapologetically New World—a crowd-pleasing powerhouse with serious depth beneath the surface.
- Les Allies Châteauneuf-du-Pape 2023 — Rhône Valley, France | The Old World heavyweight. Châteauneuf-du-Pape is the spiritual home of the Grenache blend, bringing garrigue, complexity, and the unmistakable character of the Southern Rhône.
Three matchups. Six wines. One winner in each round—chosen by you. Stop in, pick your favorites, and settle in for the most delicious bracket of the season.
