Weingut Goldatzel is a small, family‑run winery in Johannisberg, one of the most historic villages in Germany’s Rheingau region. Led by the Groß family, the estate focuses on handcrafted, terroir‑driven Riesling, drawing on the steep, slate‑rich slopes that surround the village. Their wines are known for purity, bright acidity, and a clean, mineral style that reflects both meticulous vineyard work and a commitment to traditional Rheingau winemaking. With a reputation for consistency and value, Goldatzel offers classic, expressive Rieslings that showcase the elegance of Johannisberg’s famed vineyards.
Cool, quite fresh, bright scent of apples, peaches and citrus fruits with herbaceous and floral nuances. Tight, bright, juicy fruit with moderate sweetness and present acidity, some grip, herbal to herbaceous aromas, some minerality, good to very good finish with bite.
91 Falstaff Memorable aroma of ripe peach, some apple peel and fine, mineral slate savouriness. Full-bodied on the palate, initially emphasising the juicy fruit, then showing the slate, rather dark undertones that also characterise the style. Remains balanced in its elements, not very long in the finish, will develop further.
