Beronia III a.C. 2015 is an intense red cherry color. Aromas of ripe fruit such as cherry come through on the nose, complimented by subtle notes of menthol providing freshness and notes of cedar and slate reminiscent of forest wilderness. On the palate, the wine is complex: the first flavor to emerge is cocoa, which then develops into spice flavors, dominated by clove and pepper, with cinnamon adding sweeter notes. The combination of spices and fruit delivers a wine that is complex and has a long finish.
93 Wine Enthusiast Dense aromas of prune, blackberry, leather and vanilla open this lusty, full-bodied Rioja that presses the pedal to the metal. Flavors of blackberry and baking spice transition to mocha and cassis on the flush finish.
91 Wine Spectator Polished and firm, this dense red offers espresso, loamy earth and smoke notes, shadowing a core of currant, licorice and tar flavors. Juicy, racy acidity balances the muscular tannins. Expressive, though in an austere style. Tempranillo, Graciano and Mazuelo. Drink now through 2030.
