Urqo is a striking young project rooted in the desert foothills near Tupungato, where the Urquia family has transformed 300 hectares of raw, high‑altitude terrain into a vivid expression of the Uco Valley. Named by blending their surname with “Uco,” the estate spans Los Chacayes and Tupungato, drawing character from intense UV light, sandy soils, and the stark beauty of the Andes. A minimalist white bodega anchors the property, mirroring the team’s philosophy of letting the fruit speak for itself. Owner Loli Urquia’s reverence for natural energies shapes both the vineyard approach and the label design, while winemaker Leo Pisano and respected consultant Daniel Pi guide a small, focused team. Together they craft wines that channel the purity of Andean air, the mineral tension of desert soils, and an elegance that contrasts the austerity of their origins.
A nose of bright cherry, plum, graphite and damson fruit. The palate is structured with notes of black cherry, damson, a touch of olive, and gently creamy vanilla notes. Uco Valleys altitude gives this wine its serious structure and fineness. The wine finishes with great purity, elegance and delicious black tea notes. Fresh and bright, delicious!
