Chateau Barreyres shows a sumptuous deep purple color. The nose opens with appealing aromas of fresh red fruit alongside classic features associated with well-managed aging. This is a fine, elegant Cru Bourgeois with a very pleasing profile, including good structure and a full body. The finish is remarkably persistent.

An affordable and easy-drinking Claret from Sainsburys from the excellent 2016 vintage. This is upfront and immensely fruity with a juiciness on the palate that's balanced and well rounded. It has softly gripping tannins that have a chalky minerality to them and a lifted minty finish. Enjoyable. Drinking window: 2021 - 2026
