After vinification, the wine is aged for 14 to 16 months in vats and barrels. The wine has a deep color and a very fruity nose, with pronounced notes of blackcurrants and black cherries, accompanied by a hint of spice. The palate is full-bodied, revealing good structure and silky tannins. This is a wine in a resolutely modern style that can be enjoyed young or cellared for three to ten years.
Blend: 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 41% Merlot, 9% Cabernet Franc
91 Wilfred Wong of Wine.com COMMENTARY: The 2018 Chateau Blaignan is attractive and is a true-to-type Medoc. TASTING NOTES: This wine exhibits aromas and flavors of dried earthy notes, savory spices, and tart cranberries. Enjoy it with a lightly-spiced roast chicken. 90 James Suckling Ripe cherries, stewed strawberries and berry jam on the nose with some chocolate. It’s medium-bodied with soft, sleek tannins. Fruity. Drink after 2022.
90 Wine Enthusiast A fruity, juicy wine with soft tannins and bright red-berry flavors, this bubbles with energy and freshness. It will settle into a smoothly textured wine that should be ready to drink from 2023.
