Since 2006, the Quiot Family, charmed by the Dentelles de Montmirail and its products of character, owns the Château du Trignon in order to perpetuate it, while expanding it by 10 ha of Vacqueyras and few hectares of Beaume-de-Venise.
A rich aromatic bouquet with a mix of red and black fruits mingled with mocha and spice. Full-bodied with a fleshy attack, powerfully built with marked tannins, a structured body and great aging potential. Delicious with juicy prime rib, savory duck confit, seasonal truffle dishes or hearty stew.
Blend: Grenache, Mourvèdre, Syrah
92 James Suckling A punchy, energetic and plush Gigondas. It has notes of blackberries, dark plums, dried herbs and flowers. Full-bodied with plush tannins. Structured and textural, with plenty of drive. A focused finish with length. Drink from 2029.
91 The Somm Journal Dark ruby glowing garnet rim. Graphite, ocean rock, violet petal, cedar campfire roasted meat herbs, mocha overlaid on ripe red and black fruits and berries. Smooth and energetic on the palate, fine grained tannins, fresh acidity, full-bodied yet fresh and lifted, spicy finish with good drive. Tight and angular at present, a slight lingering bitterness. A classic blend of Grenache Noir, Mourvèdre, Syrah. Drinking well over the next 5-10 years and beyond with careful cellaring. If I were keeping score: 4⭑, 91/100, B+
89 Jeb Dunnuck Lots of red and black fruits, spring flowers, and sappy herb notes emerge from the 2019 Gigondas, a fruit-forward Gigondas that’s round, supple, has moderate acidity, and a good finish. Drink it over the coming 7-8 years. (January 2022)
