The Giacometti family settled in the remote Agriates Desert in 1987, taking over 1966‑planted vines uniquely classified as Patrimonio despite their distance from the village. After decades of determined work in this harsh landscape, founder Christian Giacometti is gradually passing the estate to his children, who maintain the domaine’s distinctive, drinkable style while pushing into new territory with rare Patrimonio plantings like Sciaccarellu. Their wines reflect both the grit required to farm the Agriates and the family’s steady evolution toward an even more expressive future.
The 2022 “Cru des Agriate” is from Domaine Giacometti’s estate in the Désert des Agriates, a remote, arid region on Corsica’s northern coast between Cap Corse and Calvi. The area is known for its clay–granite soils and the hot, dry libecciu wind, making viticulture extremely challenging. Laurent Giacometti’s family has spent over three decades adapting vines to this harsh environment through organic farming.
Aromas of wild strawberry, citrus blossom, and delicate herbs. On the palate, crisp, mineral, with bright acidity and a refined, dry finish. Fresh, pure, and focused, with a “filtered-through-granite” minerality.
Blend: 95% Niellucciu, 5% Sciaccarellu
