Giovanni Rosso Langhe Nebbiolo is made by the Giovanni Rosso winery, which is currently under the management of Davide, the latest generation of the family, who owns a total of 10 hectares of vineyards spread over Serralunga d'Alba (considered the great Barolo terroir). Over time these properties have been growing, and are now unique. These are very special plots cultivated in a completely respectful way (since 2006 no chemical products have been used on it). The grapes are harvested in mid-October. This harvest date is mainly due to the fact that the grapes ripen a little later, because of the clay-loam soils (very humid) and the mild climate, with morning fogs.
This Langhe Nebbiolo presents itself in a bright garnet red with a ruby-coloured rim as an elegant companion with a presence of origin. The naturally cultivated vines are rooted in calcareous and clayey soils around Serralunga d'Alba. The bouquet reveals delicate notes of violets, red wild berries, white rose and a hint of dried herbs – wonderfully balanced between freshness and depth. The palate reveals a fine, supple body: lively acidity, gentle tannins and a fine mineral vein that accompanies the finish with clarity and elegance.
93 Wine Enthusiast Delicate rose petals and wild berries float above warm earth notes, while threads of dried herbs weave through the background. A bright core of strawberry and sour cherry delivers a perfect 10 performance, balancing the warm vintage's plumpness with the kind of poise and precision that would make an Olympic gymnast jealous.
91 James Suckling A restrained, elegant and fragrant wine with aromas of wild strawberries, redcurrants and liquorice. On the palate with crisp acidity, a light body, good tannins and a long, spicy finish.
