The Rosso family began cultivating vines in Serralunga d’Alba in the late 19th century, with formal winery roots dating to 1906. This commune is one of Barolo’s most prestigious zones, known for Nebbiolo with power, elegance, and long aging potential. Renato Rosso (Giovanni’s son) took over in the 1980s, focusing on strict vineyard management and optimal ripeness. In 2001, Davide Rosso — trained in Alba and Burgundy — became head winemaker, bringing a Burgundian sensitivity to terroir expression. The estate owns parcels in top Menzioni Geografiche Aggiuntive (MGAs) like Cerretta, Serra, Meriame, Sorano, Lirano, and Vignarionda.
In 2016, Giovanni Rosso acquired vineyards on Mount Etna in Sicily, near Solicchiata, producing wines from volcanic soils with the same terroir‑driven philosophy.
Their guiding principle: Il vino deve essere la copia perfetta del suo terroir — The wine should be a perfect copy of its terroir. Low yields, meticulous vineyard care, and site‑specific vinification define their style.
This wine is explosive on the nose, with floral aromas and notes of pear, peach, and tropical fruits. On the palate, it is fresh and mineral, perfectly balanced, with a savory finish typical of wines from the sandy soils of the Roero region. It pairs ideally with seafood, fried mullet, or vegetable soups.
