Crafted by winemaker Rodolfo Cosimi at the Il Poggiolo estate, the 2015 Riserva shows a dark ruby hue with garnet edges and aromas of violet, leather, liquorice, and wild berries. On the palate, it delivers full-bodied richness with persistent fruit, mineral depth, and polished tannins. Despite the vintage’s ripeness, the wine retains vibrant acidity, giving it lift and longevity. Aged three years in large French oak, one year in tonneaux, and 12 months in bottle, it offers both immediate charm and the promise of further complexity with cellaring.
94 James Suckling A very pretty red with plum, toffee, cedar and floral aromas and flavors. Some tobacco. Full-bodied with chewy tannins and a juicy finish. Lovely fruit at the end. Try after 2023.
93 Falstaff Elegantly shining ruby red. Barrel-spice on the nose, slight shoe polish, butter brioche, raspberry cordial and rich cherries on the finish. Shows well integrated wood on the palate, with red berry finesse and considerable freshness, also texture, will benefit from storage.
