Founded in the late 1950s by Fernand Lécheneaut, who began with just 2.5 hectares spread across Nuits‑Saint‑Georges, Chambolle‑Musigny, and Morey‑Saint‑Denis. In 1986, Fernand’s sons Philippe and Vincent took over after completing oenology training in Beaune, initiating a period of steady expansion. Philippe and Vincent added vineyards in Nuits‑Saint‑Georges and Vosne‑Romanée (1987), followed by additional parcels—including Premier Crus—in Chambolle‑Musigny, Gevrey‑Chambertin, and Morey‑Saint‑Denis. In 2017 Vincent's son Jules joined - 3rd generation - and is now working alongside him.
With the spark of youth, the color is a vibrant ruby. With age, the color deepens to a crimson hue, like a black cherry. Strawberry, blackberry, violet, and rose are all a part of its spontaneous aromas; however maturation will bring forth a more licorice bouquet. Full and powerful, rich and bodied, its strong structure is confirmed. Tannins create a velvety touch, enhanced by a very fine grain, without harshness. Can be enjoyed young with its fruity notes; however, this is definitely a wine to be aged.
Reviews
90 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate A blend of equal parts Seuvrées and Charreux, the 2019 Gevrey-Chambertin Village opens in the glass with notes of cassis, sweet berry fruit, spices, loamy soil and chocolate. Medium to full-bodied, concentrated and structured, with fine depth at the core and youthfully chewy tannins, it will demand a bit of patience.
