Marqués de Cáceres is a family‑run Rioja estate founded in 1970 by Enrique Forner, who brought home the Bordeaux techniques he refined at Château Camensac and Château Larose‑Trintaudon. Rooted in Cenicero in Rioja Alta, the winery became a modernizing force in the region—reducing traditional oak aging, prioritizing fruit purity, and pioneering the use of high‑quality French oak. Today, under Cristina Forner’s leadership, the fifth generation, Marqués de Cáceres continues to craft elegant, terroir‑driven wines sourced from vineyards across Rioja Alta and Rioja Alavesa, standing as one of Spain’s most recognized ambassadors for contemporary Rioja.
The 2021 Crianza is a Tempranillo‑based Rioja crafted in a fresh, modern style, showing the estate’s signature balance of fruit, spice, and gentle oak influence. It typically offers medium ruby color, aromas of black fruits, balsamic notes, and subtle oak, and a palate that’s well‑balanced, full‑bodied, and framed by lively, frisky tannins. The wine is known for its harmonious structure, a touch of peppermint freshness, and a finish that’s both velvety and refreshing.
