Fixin is a village appellation located at the northern end of the Côte de Nuits, not far from Gevrey-Chambertin. The region is distinguished by optimal exposures on east-facing slopes, as well as clay-limestone soils particularly well-suited for Pinot Noir, providing both minerality and depth. Renowned since the Middle Ages for its powerful yet approachable wines, Fixin enjoys a semi-continental climate, alternating cold winters and mild summers, which promotes a gradual ripening of the grapes and therefore characteristic aromatic complexity.
This Fixin Cuvée Le Messal 2021 from Château Moillard is a dry red wine from one of the most renowned terroirs of the Côte de Nuits in Burgundy. Made from Pinot Noir, the region's iconic grape variety, this wine expresses all the refinement and subtlety of Burgundian wines. The 2021 vintage, marked by cool weather and early harvests, allowed for the preservation of beautiful acidity and a strong fruity expression. Traditional winemaking, with careful aging in oak barrels, brings elegant notes of fresh red fruits, currant, and cherry, enhanced by touches of sweet spices and a hint of forest floor on the finish.
90 James Suckling This is showing aromas of chocolate orange, red and sour cherries and licorice. It’s tight and elegant with a medium body, fine-grained tannins and a zesty finish. Drink or hold.
