Founded in 1982 by Dan Morgan Lee and Donna Lee, Morgan Winery is one of Monterey County’s pioneering family-owned wineries and an early champion of the Santa Lucia Highlands AVA. A major milestone came in 1996 with the purchase and development of the Double L Vineyard, now one of the region’s most recognized vineyard sites and the Santa Lucia Highlands’ only certified organic vineyard. Morgan has built its reputation on sustainably farmed Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Albariño, and Rhône varieties, crafted with a minimalist winemaking philosophy that emphasizes balance, purity, and terroir.
This focused, elegant chardonnay features aromas of pineapple, citrus, and honeysuckle, complemented by flavors of lemon, yellow apple, and a hint of salted caramel on the palate. Incredibly food-friendly, the Highland Chardonnay is a perfect match for white fish, poultry, and light pasta dishes.
94 Wine Enthusiast Tart and tangy aromas of lime peel and green apricot invite the nose into this zesty bottling. There's a tight weave to the palate, where flashy citrus flavors meet with warmer hints of stonefruit, all dusted in sea salt. - April 2026
94 TastingPanelMag.com Polished wines aren’t always fun, and fun wines aren’t always polished. This one happens to check both boxes. On the nose, pineapple, cantaloupe, and mandarin orange mingle brightly with hints of clove and ginger, while the palate—broad and billowy but not in the least overblown—hums with judicious acidity, pops of nectarine, and a finish that echoes the aromatic profile, bringing things full-circle. - January 2026
91 JebDunnuck.com A more classically oaked, traditional white, the 2024 Chardonnay Highland is from half-Double L estate grapes, half sourced from the likes of Boekenoogen, McIntyre, Panziera, and Tondre. Not as hot a vintage as 2022 and not as long as 2023, it’s a medium-bodied, well-mannered wine with tastes of key lime, apple, and fresh acidity, with hints of oak space interlaced throughout, aged eight months in French oak, 25% new. Drink now through 2032. - June 2026
