A single-vineyard estate wine is made by Nils Venge and Tom Rinaldi, who have somehow managed to capture quiet elegance and powerful fruit at the same time. Red-fruit driven, it's round and rich, with moderate tannin and cassis, clove and black pepper highlights. This wine is aged about 20 months in 75 percent new French oak, with further aging in the bottle before release.

The 2017 Pellet Estate Cabernet Sauvignon comes to the fore with excellent richness and persistence. This wine exhibits aromas and flavors of bold, black fruits, earth, licorice, and oak. Enjoy with the first cut from a prime rib. (Tasted: March 3, 2022, San Francisco, CA)

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Pellet Vineyard, which includes some Merlot and Petit Verdot, offers a rich, medium-bodied style as well as solid purity in its blue fruits, violets, and sappy herb-like aromas and flavors. It's not a blockbuster yet has rock solid elegance, fine tannins, and outstanding length. It's a classy wine to enjoy over the coming 15 years or so.

The 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is soft, fruity and easygoing - all qualities that suggest it will offer its best drinking sooner rather than later. Sweet red berries, crushed flowers and sweet spices are all laced together in this pretty, silky, mid-weight Cabernet. The 2017 is a bit light, but it is nicely balanced and offers plenty of immediacy in exchange.
