Tenuta Garetto was acquired by the Gagliardo Family in 2017. It is a very well-known and recognized spot for Barbera. It is located in Agliano Terme, in the heart of the new Nizza DOCG appellation. The estate has old vines planted between 1935 and 1950, as well as more recent vineyards.
Barbera d’Asti Rosina tends to come from the slightly younger vineyards of the estate. After fermentation, the wine is aged in neutral containers and bottled a few months before marketing.
A refined, expressive wine showing notes of wild blueberry, dried plum, and warm sandalwood. The palate is vibrant and layered, its lively acidity and ripe fruit working in seamless balance. Excellent alongside stuffed pastas, grilled veal or beef, and dishes featuring stewed artichokes.
91 Wine Enthusiast This Barbera is a tad shy but with a bit of time or a decant, the wine shows up in force. Aromas of ripe black cherries and currants mixed with allspice and freshly turned earth. The palate is perked up with bright acidity turning the fruit flavors into tart wild berries. The wine continues to evolve in the glass with each sip and finishes with distinct floral and earthy notes. A winner.
90 James Suckling Aromas of sage, nutmeg, thyme and red cherry. Full-bodied with fine tannins. Savory and well spiced on the palate. Vanilla and orange come through. Drink now.
