Dievoles Chianti Classico Petrignano is the result of the endeavour to highlight the identity characteristics of particularly suitable vineyards, leading to ever more precise expressions of Sangiovese. Petrignano is the name of a characteristic area with a soil rich in minerals and stones. At an altitude of around 330 metres, rocks protrude from the ground that are typical of the geological formation of Monte Morello. The abundance of stones, the depth of the roots and the low growth of the vines result in an expressive and lush wine from this characteristic and authentic cru site.
Ruby red color in the glass, deep and intense. The nose opens with intense and ripe fruity tones, of plum and wild berries in particular, and then continues with flavors of tobacco, wet earth and chalk. The taste is full and lively, with full, well-balanced tannins, persistent and sapid in closing.
93 James Suckling A delicious, crunchy red with very fine tannins and a pretty and delicate finish. Extremely yummy and creamy-textured. Fresh finish. From organically grown grapes.
93 Natalie MacLean From the Tuscany wine region, Dievole Petrignano 2020 Chianti Classico is a 100% Sangiovese produced from organically grown grapes. Bright and delish with red berry, cherry, subtle spicy and savoury herb flavours on the palate, tannins are fine and creamy-textured. Lovely now through 2035.
92 Wine Spectator A sleek red penetrated by a beam of cherry and strawberry fruit, with a texture that starts out silky, only to be overtaken by firm, dusty tannins. Shows almond, earth and herb accents that linger on the finish. Give this time for the two halves to integrate. Best from 2025 through 2038. 1,500 cases made, 500 cases imported.
91 Wine Advocate This is a new addition to the Dievole portfolio with a cool, retro-styled label. The organic 2020 Chianti Classico Petrignano is 100% Sangiovese fermented in cement tulips and aged in large oak casks over 12 months. Winemaking is simple and to the point. These results show vibrant freshness and pretty fruit purity with a focused delivery. The fruit comes from a seven-hectare site with rocky limestone soils. This is a great value wine, with 40,000 bottles released.
