Termanthia is a distinguished spanish red wine from the Toro region, crafted exclusively from 100% Tempranillo Tinta de Toro grapes. This red wine stands out for its depth and finesse, representing the pinnacle of Bodega Numanthia's offerings.
Termanthia features a ripe cherry color with high intensity, showing no signs of evolution. The nose is elegant and deep, with delicate aromas of ripe red fruits, blackberries, and blueberries, complemented by sweet spices like clove and nutmeg. Floral hints of violet and carnation blend with aromatic herbs such as lavender, rosemary, and eucalyptus. On the palate, the wine delivers a sweet and fresh attack, full-bodied and generous, with velvety tannins. The long finish offers notes of black fruit, sweet spices, tobacco leaf, forest floor, and dried flowers, showcasing a well-rounded complexity.
94 Vinous The 2015 Termanthia is a deep garnet Toro wine sourced from XIX-century vineyard plots and aged 22 months in oak barrels. Ripe cherry, wild herbs, dried flowers and a subtle balsamic layer define its complex aromas. Balanced and rich on the palate, it features supple tannins and a long-lasting, nuanced finish. The 2015 is a finely crafted Toro with a well-integrated oak influence.
94 James Suckling A rich and intense red with lots of red-fruit aromas and flavors, together with lightly toasted oak and dried flowers. It’s full and powerful, but with a touch of elegance and focus. This is a selection of about five or six of the finest parcels. Drink or hold.
93 Robert Parker's Wine Advocate The 2015 Termanthia is a selection from 120-year-old ungrafted Tinta de Toro vines from six plots that fermented in French oak vats with commercial yeasts and matured in barrels for 22 months; this vintage is when they started using less new oak. It has 15% alcohol and a pH of 3.67. Tasting this next to the 2016, it feels like there's more toasty oak here, and it's very balsamic with notes of camphor and a little minty, a little heady and quite ripe with black rather than red fruit, abundant tannins and plenty of oak-related flavors. 10,000 bottles produced. It was bottled in June 2017 and launched in 2022.
