Cantina Santi: A Legacy of Excellence in Valpolicella

We are super excited to highlight the wines of Cantina Santi this month. Established in 1843, Cantina Santi has been a cornerstone of winemaking in the Valpolicella region. Founded by Carlo Santi in the historic village of Illasi, nestled near the Lessini Mountains, the winery has consistently prioritized quality and authenticity in its wines. 

We love the wines from Veneto, Italy. The Santi Valpolicella's and Amarone's are always amazing.

A Journey Through Time

From its inception, Santi focused on producing wines that reflect the true character of the region. Carlo Santi's commitment to sourcing the finest grapes laid the foundation for the winery's reputation. His successor, Cavaliere Attilio Gino Santi, furthered this legacy by integrating innovative techniques, including the introduction of modern sparkling wine production in the 1930s. Under the guidance of Guido Santi, the third generation, the winery honed its focus on premium products, setting a quality benchmark that many in the Italian wine industry would later emulate.

Modern Innovations

In 1974, Cantina Santi became part of the Gruppo Italiano Vini, ushering in a new era of modernization while staying true to its roots. The winery underwent significant renovations, enhancing its facilities to align with contemporary winemaking philosophies. Notably, the creation of an internal drying area adjacent to fermentation facilities and the expansion of the barrel cellar, now housing approximately 150 containers of various sizes and origins, have been pivotal in refining their wine production processes.

Their wines consistently receive commendable ratings, reflecting the winery's commitment to quality and tradition.
