Regular readers have probably noticed a theme here at W4DW - get some deals at the grocery store and find a recipe that is minimal work but produces a special dish, and pair it with awesome wine. This week’s dish was inspired by a sale on store-bought rotisserie chicken and some spaghetti squash, combined with some of the wines from Stonestreet we had at last night’s tasting.
At our Friday wine tasting last week, our friend Kelly Cordes shared selections from her Family Crafted portfolio of wines. Kelly is also a chef, so we asked her to suggest a recipe that would pair with some of her favorite wines, and she suggested this Grouper dish that is packed with bright, Spring-y flavors. We have a line-up of some of Kelly’s favorite whites to pair this with - and you get 15% off!
Like many Wednesday Dinners, this one started with something at the grocery store catching my eye. This time it was fresh tortellini at Mazzaro’s in St. Pete and helped along by browsing their selection of dried Italian meats. Pair that with some Chianti or Barbera and it looks like a special dinner worthy of Wednesday.
I am sure I will get some feedback on this recipe choice, but I have been hankering curry - specifically Thai Green Curry. Maybe it is an excuse to open this amazing Austrian Reisling we got in? Maybe because these little cans of curry paste call my name anytime I am in Oceanic Market. Either way - this Wednesday we are doing some wines that pair with spicy food.
We have been on a little Rhône kick the last week or so. That got us talking about “What would you pair with this?”. We thought this week we would feature something that pairs with Syrah and Grenache. How about a Pork Tenderloin with Bacon-Onion Jam?
