Plungerhead Zinfandel is rooted in the heart of Lodi, a region that’s earned a reputation for bold, expressive wines shaped by its warm Mediterranean climate and sandy soils. The fruit comes primarily from three standout vineyards—Grand Vin Lands, Mettler Family, and Manna—located in the Mokelumne River sub‑appellation. These deep, sandy soils hold warmth through harvest, helping Zinfandel reach ideal ripeness and delivering the rich, concentrated flavors Lodi is known for.
To build extra depth and texture, the final blend layers in Tempranillo and Merlot from Clarksburg for bright cherry and ripe blueberry notes, along with Petite Sirah for plush mid‑palate weight. A touch of Mourvèdre adds earthy tannin and structure. The result is a bold, fruit‑forward Zinfandel with complexity, silky texture, and a long, satisfying finish—classic Lodi character with a little extra swagger.
The Plungerhead Lodi Old Vine Zinfandel holds a dark ruby color with aromas of brambly raspberry, fresh-from-the-oven cherry pie, cinnamon-infused tea, toasted cedar and clove. The flavors start with touches of Bing cherry, sweetened cranberry, raspberry jam, caramel and toasted coconut. The finish lingers with a medium body and notes of dried cranberry, Mexican vanilla and a round mouthfeel from American Oak aging.
