Knights Bridge Tasting & Wines!
Last night (knight?) we had a great intro to the terroir of Knights Valley through the wines of Knights Bridge. Knights Valley lies at the top of Napa Valley - in the Napa AVA but touching Sonoma AVA. Wines from this area experience a blend of weather effects from both areas. Derek Beljeu, winemaker at Knights Bridge, led us through a great tasting of their Chardonnay and Cabernet based wines that was really an eye opener. Chards hinting at tropical notes with tangerine, orange blossom, lemon curd, lychee, and lanolin but keeping mineral and acids in the background. Cabs that managed to combine grip and tannin from Napa with some softness and drinkability of Sonoma. We even tasted a Sauvignon Blanc. All very tasty wines and a great education on how the uniqueness of this AVA shapes the wines and winemaking.
A great time was had by all! Check out the wines we tasted.
